New Pharmacy in Cornwall
We are pleased to announce our latest approval to open a pharmacy at a medical centre in Liskeard, Cornwall. The application was originally approved by NHS England but local contractors objected and one hired solicitors to represent them. The oral hearing panel agreed with us that patients did find it difficult to access existing services and even though the medical centre was a dispensing practice, the pharmacy should be allowed to open.
This was a particularly long application to work through as the area where the new medical centre was located was classified as rural by the NHS many years ago and the classification could have affected whether the application was permitted to even be considered. We were able to successfully challenge the classification and this had to be completed prior to the application being considered by the NHS.
It is always important to consider potential rurality issues in any application, especially in more remote areas.
